When converting to a V8 engine and using an aftermarket clutch assembly, you play havoc attempting to get your clutch to release properly. The bellhousings we manufacture offer brackets to retain both these linkages. Anything more powerful will rip the 200-R4 to pieces. Also, the V-8 transmission has one extra friciton and steel place in the low clutch pack to handle the larger loads tranferred from the engine. Many V8 conversions are surprisingly legal in most states, but with a few basic caveats. If you're going to use the 4L60E from the V-8, remove the pan and swap valve bodies, front pumps and torque convertors.
Note: These early blocks, in which the starter bolts to the bellhousing, should not be used for conversions. The good new is that many V6s already come with the decent 200-R4, but this transmission should only be used with a bone-stock small block. It really isn't a lot when you're going to the junkyard, and you figure that everything in essence bolts up. Still stand by the intake and cam statements though. S-10s and similar mini-trucks have plenty of room for a V8, and Camaros have always had a V8 option. Transmission - This will include the shifter and the little rubber guard that the shifter handle goes through. Furthermore, I did not deal with the electrical side of the car.
This may prove to be easier to find than the corresponding 4V harness. There are at least a dozen different companies that make V6-to-V8 conversion kits that include motor mounts, exhaust headers and sometimes a transmission mount. You can use the stock V6 control arms, sway bar, brake calipers, brake lines, and shocks when swapping it out. The 2wd transmissions featured a 35 spline output shaft where a corresponding yoke was bolted. Yeah, I could get that one but I don't know if I would trust my rebuilding skills to how I would drive.
The 318 bolts up fine to the v6 tranny, just change the flexplate as it has 6 versus 8 windows for the firing sensor to read. You'll need the new power distribution box, which should come with your harness. Transmission Dust Plate — There is a transmission dust plate that goes between the back of the engine block and the bellhousing of the transmission. Either may work on your car, but the lines will have different sizes. Noticed fine fragments of something in it. Photos are used for reference purposes only, condition and availability of parts vary. Once you have established the larger inside diameter, you must then verify the transmission register diameter. When these blocks are used in a conversion, the torque converter or clutch components will need to be adjusted.
This kit includes a new full bellhousing with a clutch linkage bracket for mechanical linkages. Machining is required on the transfer case to install a new 32 spline input gear. I'm an advocate of trying to match your engine harness to the year of your dash harness, so you do not have to chop up the wiring or replace the dash harness. A complete transmission package from Advance Adapters is a cost effective way to order. You really just need the completed axle assembly to bolt in.
Yes torque converter could be different but they would swap out easily. Also, good luck doing that! The answer to the question about the v6 4 L 60E same as the V8 4L 60E torque converter ,bell housing, flex plate, are different along with the input shafts. Please see my tag line.
Your vehicle will sit low if you do not change the springs, but also have poor handling since springs are rated for a certain weight. As mentioned above, use lines from the same body style that you have to ensure proper fitment. Will the V6 flywheel fit to and work without being out of balance? This can cause some problems on vehicles requiring oil pan modifications. When I stop its tries to start out in 2nd. Fuel injected engines will require a dedicated high-pressure fuel pump and system. Be very careful while swapping the valve body.
But as to the other alleged differences seems like every transmission and hi-perf forum says that the internals are the same and they are interchangeable without issue. So, I should be around 275hp with a 3. The guys at the parts store dont usually know what they're talking about half the time but this guy seems to know his stuff. This linkage uses a ball design pivot bracket that bolts to the stock bellhousing. The Cobra one is discontinued, but I ordered a Mach 1 version that worked fine. The bellhousing kit includes a 356 T-6 aluminum bellhousing, universal dust cover plate, pilot bushing, throw-out arm, ball pivot, throw-out boot, fastening hardware, and adapter instructions.
