I've read that some hdmi splitters will ignore drm requests and will eliminate this issue. However, this does not mean that either device is faulty, it's just that the connection between the two devices need to be reinstated. Is this an incompatibility with firestick? With the Roku that isn't possible, though. To be able to stream in higher resolutions, you will need every device to be connected to the Roku to be compatible with the resolution Roku does allow.
