If you get all this right you are have done a good job and ready to make a trip you can get all this just by turning the cranshaft by hand with a rachet and a big socket. It is easier with 2 people. What I hear is a little bit of humming sound which think might be coming from the speakers upon turning on the key. I haven't replaced either relay and all is well. I jumped the starter by crossing the terminals on the solinoid with a screwdriver. This is where Im at. From under the car locate the bolt connecting the starter to the bell housing and place the socket on the other side.
Thanks for all those responses though. He finally thought it was the headlight relay which he found down below the fuse panel, by the clutch pedal inside. I found the neutral safety switch. It'll be inconvenient, your car will be down for two days, but it'll probably be cheaper, and far better quality. Connect the black lead of your multimeter to the negative battery terminal on your Nissan. Ordered the part, replaced it, not the problem.

My recommendation is to remove all the electrical gear, including the brass housing covering the positive terminal connection from the battery. Could the problem just be the neutral safety switch, considering it doesnt even start in neutral? Check to see if there is power to it when the key is turned. Lights were on the dashboard, heater fan was running, windows would work, but when I turned the key to start the only thing that happened was the heater fan stopped. I checked any fuses that might have something to do with it and they are all good. Check in the service manual section of the Knowlegebase for the excat location. You will need to use the 12mm socket to mark it.

The top one is fairly easy to reach from underneath if you have the heat insulator shield removed - the bottom those has two fuel lines in the way and I had to use a breaker bar at an angle to crank it off slowly.
